DIY Handmade Jewelry Gifts<br /><br />Here we are once again with the gift giving season only a week or so away. Like many this year, you may find yourself short on cash and in desperate need of a thoughtful and inexpensive gift idea for some of your favorite women.<br /><br />A great alternative to purchasing gifts this holiday season is to make them!<br /><br />If you are a beginner, the best way to start is to take a quick trip to your local neighborhood craft store. Joann Fabric happens to be my favorite, and they have a phenomenal selection of beads and beading supplies.<br /><br />To make a necklace you will need the following supplies and materials:<br /><br />silver tone jewelry wire<br /><br />pretty hand selected beads of your choice about 30 40 total per necklace<br /><br />crimp beadswire cutterbead mat so your beads dont roll away<br /><br />The first step in making the necklace is to decide on the length. Determining the length of your necklace will help in the design process. Once you have decided on the length you desire cut the silver tone jewelry wire and add 2 inches so that you have extra room to work with once its time to complete the piece with the clasps.<br /><br />After you have completed your cutting you will need to put 2 crimp beads and 1 enclosure on one end of the wire. In order to do this, place the crimp beads at one end of the string and then string the clasp on. With your , fold the very end of the jewelry wire over and loop it through the clasp loop and crimp beads. Once this step is complete you are now ready to clamp the crimp beads. To do this, make sure the crimp beads are lined up and push down on them, closing them around the jewelry wire. Soon you will be ready to start stringing beads onto the wire!<br /><br />Next, play around with the beads you bought. Try different combinations to find what you think the prettiest design and color combination for the necklace will be. Once to decide which beads to use and what order to place them in it will be time to sring them!<br /><br />Start stringing the beads onto your prepared wire.
